Is there any way to mount the Sidekick ama kit behind the seat without interfering with the placement of the Hobie livewell? Do I need to mount it behind the livewell instead? Anybody got a picture of both of these accessories on the same boat? If I have to, I'll switch between the two. I mainly got the ama kit for fly casting, and I normally CPR when I'm fly fishing anyway. Just like to keep my options open. |

The SideKick will block the rudder up / down control on oldeer models. The 2009 models have line controls for the rudder up / down, so a non-issue. There is an option for older models to make this work. Mount the center bar off-center so you can remove the right side ama bar to actuate the rudder up / down. |

I don't have any problem with the rudder controls. I have the new rudder configuration, and they're far forward of where I'm talking about. The area I'm talking about mounting the Sidekick crossbar is behind the seat, but forward of where the livewell sits over the rear scupper holes. |

Yeah Blue Frog, I have the old style 08 and had to be precise when I placed the bar down right behind the seat, which then I had to raise the tank move back a tad, used some bilge hose(Att-Wood) which I boiled to put on the pump stem (about a 5-6" piece) so I could form a S shape with it, I ended up with pool noodles 2 which keep the bank tank off the hull. Works great and the bilge hose is super air tight.......I also took the black scupper fitting and put a screen in it.......Steve(Sorry no pics) My bar is perfectly centered which the whole time had to keep the rudder handle in mind (about a 1/4" clearance) |

Thought I would add on that bilge hose 5-6" piece I used the tapered end up, then I just stirred the cut end in boiling hot water till I was able to man that end over the Pumps adapter end. I still used the existing Clear tube that Hobie included, and I belong to a site which I will update this one in about 15 minutes so you can have a pic..........Steve http://texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/vi ... 3&t=126531 |
