Post subject:  Salt River, Arizona - VIDEO Report

Drew and I headed out to Arizona last weekend to fish and drift down the Salt River. The trip out through the desert was pretty cool. We camped right next to the river in a thicket of mesquite trees. Wildlife was abundant, we saw bald eagles and a big pack of wild horses. There are also bighorn sheep in the area. Fishing was tough, but Drew managed a few small bass. I got skunked.
We filmed the whole time and took a ton of still pictures too. Enjoy the video below:

Nice video. I like the sound track!

We took a i 14T (inflatable tandem) to the Lower Salt in Fall, '07. Didn't see much fishing then either, but had fun anyway. Here are a few pics:

Launching at a rare openings in the dense vegetation and heading upstream.

We tried to avoid getting the fins tangled up in this...

...and sometimes had to resort to this (can't remember what it's called).

Plenty of serene views.

This is the only thing we caught -- an exhausted kayaker -- no place to pull over here for a rest. Nice having the power of the Mirage Drive!

Played in some small rapids

Then drifted back leisurely.

A pleasant trip, and a great way to travel and kayak! 8)
