Ever run a daisy chain of squid? 3-4 up front 4-6 feet from a straggler?
Wish you didn't have to pull you last squid with the hook through the mantle, but could keep in buried aft in the head?
Well Rizzuto shows you this, but his rig can be time consuming to replace a hit.

I use wire now after getting everything creamed and the rig cut probably by ono. California yakers may not need it??
Start with:
1/4 inch cork balls.
100-120 lb test single SS strand brown wire 6-8 feet
Owner size 6-8 circle hook (super mutu)
Inline swivel 100-150 lb test (Braid slim line)

And at least one Davis Crimp DC1
I'm going to put 3 squids at the front and a rear one at least 3 feet back. You can vary the numbers in front and your separation distance to your own preference.
First use a haywire twist and attach the hook and Davis crimp at one end. The Davis crimp is lined with a silicon insert. Crimp it so it takes some moderate force to slide with your fingers.. The pressure will be light as it will consist only of the drag of the squid.

Fluro leader crimped to the in line swivel. The swivel attached to the wire with a haywire twist, and a regular crimp where you want the first up front squid.
If you prefer to crimp your line directly to the wire using the swivel, you should realize it will have to be after you have threaded all the bait.
By using a short leader with a snap swivel the whole rig can be disconnected and fresh bait slid on to precise spots.
For the squids up front the distance between them doesn't have to be exact. Even if you haven't open and de-thawed the box yet. Just put your up front crimps the length of the box apart. They don't pack-'em folded.
The first squid you use will have the hook. Measure it and adjust the Davis crimp so it's ~ an inch from the tip of the mantle.
Hook a bait needle to your leader and drag the rig through the squid's mantle.
Add the other three baits. Then slip the hook squid down to just above the Davis crimp. Add the cork ball in front of the crimp and slowly pull the cork ball up into the mantle. If you have done it right the head will be in position to accept the hook.
Now for the others simply add a cork ball in front of the appropriate crimp and slide a squid down over it.
If any squid get's hit add a new one. Sy you miss a strike, rel in and the hook is bare.Remove the cork ball from #3 , and slip that squid down on position, to the hook
Get back in the water fast. Your two front squid are there and the #3 crimp is all that's visible. Should be fine.
Replenish all stations by sliding a new squid or two if required to the head of the wire. Two goes to three, one to two and the new bait takes #1 slot.
Because the cork balls are easily removable instead of threaded everything goes pretty fast.
Going to try this when I think ahi are around, but I think it will do well for any mahi or ono encountered. Should be a killer for Caif. WSB also.
