Despite the fact that I should know better, foolishly I was trolling 2 lines off shore on the weekend and sure enough, hooked up to a big longtail tuna - my biggest yet. I fought it for 30 minutes before getting it to the side of the yak. While fighting the fish I reeled in the other line, but was too lazy to reel it all the way in, instead letting the lure dangle around the rudder. Big mistake.

The tuna stated circling and swam into the dangling line, with it's lure tangling up to the active line. So with a 10+kg tuna pulling hard on one end I tried to untangle the lure to make it possible to bring in those last couple of feet. I came oh so close to having the lure hooks bury themselves into my hands, and also managed to snap the rod tip, the line and even the rudder pin! I lost the fish as well. Absolutely heartbreaking. That's the last time I troll 2 lines passively off shore while fishing for larger pelagic fish.

I reckon some of the less experienced off shore yak fishoes will find this clip a little educational and the veterans will probably find it somewhat entertaining.
