I've been chompin at the bit to get my 2 yr old out in the yak, but just haven't had the chance with the crappy weather and new baby coming, etc. well I finally got the chance on Sunday as momma wanted to catch up on some sleep and asked me to get her out of the house so it would be quiet. The weather finally looked awesome so I took her for her first yak fishing expedition! i figured a nice little fresh water outing with some crawlers under a bobber would provide fast action and be a good first outing. I've been working with Madi on casting and reeling in since christmas when her aunt bought her a barbie rod and reel and all the teaching paid off! I couldn't be happier...she loved being in the kayak and really liked catching fishies! She must have landed 15-20 bluegills and perch and two small bass, and loved every minute of it....my plan to turn her into my yak fishing buddy is working out quite nicely so far..... her very first fish ever...at 2 1/2 yrs old! not too shabby ![]() and a nice perch ![]() another BG ![]() and her first LM bass...look out Hank Parker! ![]() |

Those smiles say it all. Isn't that what it is all about? |

That's the sort of thing she will always remember. We tend to remember TIME our parents spent with us...not THINGS they gave us. Wish more parents would figure that out. She's a cutie pie! ![]() P.S. It was nice to let her use your "Dora the Explorer" Rod ![]() |

awesome pictures, looks like alot of fun, I took my little guy out when he was 4 and 5 on the rear deck so I have an idea how it feels. At that age tho, I think you need to send a request to Hobie, you need a 'diaper change table' attachment so you can avoid any unnecessary interupptions ![]() Neil |

@pa_hillbilly and everybody to whom it may concern: I do not know whether everybody will understand what I'm going to say or to explain - maybe some people don't I even realize it or even may become angry about my concern (and nevertheless it's difficult to explain it in English for me) - but my wife and I think, we really have to tell. I'm a new member to this forum and I really like what pa_hillbilly told about his young daughter and her fantastic success in fishing. I also would be very very proud of my little girl (if I had one), if she would be so cute! But as I'm working as a system adminstrator for IT-systems and with internet connections for a long time, I've seen a lot of misuse with data or pictures published on the WWW. So I would be careful with publishing pictures of my beloved ones (especially my children) in parts of Forums which are open to public. So one thing I would recommend, is to make pictures in this forum or links to pictures only accessible to registered members at least- I do not know whether this will be possible with this forum, but maybe it's an idea to think about - so that we all can enjoy the stories somebody is happy to tell, but also can minimize the risk of these pictures being seen 'all around the world'. ralf-hobie, I understand what you are saying. And I don't take it lightly. However I would like to know what someone would take the time to do with these pictures that would be a negative. They are posted in this forum, with only the info the poster has posted in his profile. And at her age her appearance will be changing. In a year or two, us that don't know her most likely wouldn't recognize her. Your point is well taken but I refuse to be held captive by anyone. We can't live in fear but we do need to be careful & don't take unnecessary chances. You are right to make people aware & that is what you did. I am just adding my thoughts. The post was a highlight of my day. I needed a smile & that sure gave me one. I hope PA_hillbilly sees this as I want to thank him for the post. I lost my only granddaughter at that age so I can never post a photo like that. Bruce |
