I'm probably the Yakass you are referring to and I'm assuming the video in question is the one in which I was harassed by a Great White... (or was it the other way around). I'm guessing you are referring to the stake out pole I grabbed towards the end of the clip, which others have thought was some sort of shark deterrent... which it was. But it's just a plain old Hobie Stake Out pole. Nothing remarkable about it and my intention was to jab the shark if it came back (thankfully it did not).

I have used a Shark Shield in the past and proved to myself that they work, but I also concluded they are way too much effort to worry about. These days I don't take any measures for sharks as they really don't bother me at all any more
