I wanted to put up a few pictures of the new horizontal rod holder kit (part# 72021060). I installed one on a Revolution and one on an Outback. They will be available soon and we will also have a youtube video available shortly that shows how to install them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That is the perfect thing for someone with such fine surf landing skills as myself. |

The horizontal rod holder kit is designed to hold one rod, although it is possible to store two larger size rods in one holder. It would be better to install two horizontal rod holder kits on the side of your kayak rather than trying to squeeze two rods in to one. With 2 of the horizontal rod holder kits installed on either side of the kayak, the user can carry 4 rods horizontally. ![]() Here is one larger setup being stored ![]() Here are two ![]() Here's a close-up of what the two rod tips look like together in the rod tip protector. |

Thanks for the additional pics as they help address some of the issues I'm looking at. While Hobie recommends holding only one rod per holder which may sway some from purchasing these rod holders, I'm still very interested based upon the minimal use that they will be given for my application on using them (mainly storage during surf launch/landings). Have you installed them on both side of a kayak or just one side as shown? Morgan, what length of rods are those? 7' or larger?? Also thanks for answering all my questions. |

Lets_Fish, I had two installed on either side of my last Revolution and they looked and functioned really well. I set the top one further forward than the lower one so it gave the rod tip protectors a nice staggered look. I used the one on the top right of my kayak to hold my 9 foot jig stick that I use for casting at breaking fish, and it made it very easy and quick to access. The black graftec rod in that picture is 7' and the mustard colored rod is 6'6". The rod with the baitcaster in the first set of pictures is 7'6". |

I love the idea. I have two sets on order myself. I did just realize it looks like the paddle will be in the way though? |

I sure would like to have a holder on both sides of the kayak. Maybe a Hobie Paddle T Handle could be used? Or even use the T handle and keep the paddle strapped down at the rear of the kayak. |

I love the idea of horizontal storage for fishing rods. Since year 2000 I've always stored my fishing rods in horizontal position specially going thru the surf zones. I just got my first Hobie Revolution Kayak three weeks ago, I will definitely install those kits. TL, johnnyceviche |

I recently developed a system using RAM revolution tubes to lay my rod horizontally for surf launches. These are going to be the finishing touches to that system for sure! Great idea! |
