Just got a new outback, and put quite a few hours on her already! Launched off the beach twice, and had a blast! Spanish and blues... Inshore, everyday I can! Here in southeastern NC, we have some great inshore fishing for specks, reds, and flounder. I have found that many of the places I like to fish (with any luck) are on or near oyster beds. So in the short time I have had my outback, I have put a few nice (and a few deep) scratches in her bottom. This is due to drifting over while fighting a fish, or just being pushed by the wind and tide. I have a friend who is a boat builder, and he suggested some type of hull guard. Kevlar or hard plastic that could be glued or stuck on the bottom of the hull. Does Hobie offer or recommend anything like this? I know you can repair scratches and holes by plastic welding, but a roll of a kevlar type material that is sticky on one side, on the hull sounded like a good idea. Thanks for any comments, Justin |

Might be a bit of over keel, but several manufactures make products to put on the keel of boats. Google for "keel guard". |

I use a roll of silver duct tape. Three strips thick starting at the bow and then going a third of the way back. Cheap and easy to remove. It keeps damage to a minimum as long as you don't run full aground. |
