Post subject:  Molded in Rod Holders - 30 degrees?

I have a 2011 Hobie Outback. Can someone just quickly verify for me that the molded in rod holders (which up until now I have found to be completely worthless on any kayak) are 30 deg angled.

I want to see if I can place a gimbal mount for a downrigger in one.

Yes, no, or "you can, but don't"

Thanks!

I can't verify if they're a perfect 30 degrees or not, but you can stick a ruler or stick or something in one, and then set a protractor flush against the hull and note where the ruler or stick intersects it. That'll tell you what angle degree is built in.

Protractor? What the heck is that??? lol. I haven't seen one in say...uh..never mind. Too old.

I didn't know if something like that was an industry standard or varied by company. But that's a good idea, one of the kids in the neighborhood might have one. They can't be more than 25cents at Walmart I would think.

Thanks!
