| Post subject: | Islamorada, FLA questions?? |
So I will be in that area for a week around Christmas time and would like to bring my Pro Angler with me from Maryland. I will be taking two charterboats as well, an offshore reef trip and an bay trip. Any advice for fishing in that area or anyone that may want to meet up and show me the ropes while I'm there. Thanks. |

There are some good kayak guides in the area. Ask one of the charters you've already booked for a recommendation. If you haven't been to the keys before, at least make sure you do some research. The wind and currents in that area can be quite treacherous. Remember, Key West was one of the richest cities in the US due to wreck salvaging when sails were the only way around. |

I don't own a Kayak, how ever back in the day when I lived near Key West and I use to do some windsurfing in the area. So, you'll be fine if you stay on the Gulf side, but like the fellow said, do pay attention to tides and the weather for the day. If you can bring along your camera/video and give us a report. You know, you can't go wrong by buying one of those cheap Garmin handheld GPS devices, just to give yourself some sort of a bearing, if you get out so far. |
