Although I have been fishing my Revo for some time I never tried to use the anchor trolley. Although it seems silly I can't figure out how to deploy the anchoring in a quick release way. Yesterday was the first time and it was a disaster ! Could some of you post your deployment steps. I think my problem is in the order in which I'm doing things. Tried it all kinds of ways and wound up with a mess each time. The water was moving real good and I could quickly see what happens when you can't get the anchor to back real quick ! I do need to practice in some calm water. I have a free sliding float between the anchor and the spool. Is there a better way ? I've looked at a lot of videos but its all guys doing it in their driveway. Heck, I can do that ! Also, I'm seeing that the way Hobie tells you to install the Trolley is not the best way. The ring keeps getting stuck on the eyelets because the part of the line with the ring rides above the part that goes through the eyelets. It should come out riding below ! Thanks, Johnny |

marcosailfish, I have a large carabiner clip attached to the ring on my anchor trolley. I keep my anchor line on a cuban yoyo hand reel and when anchoring I drop the anchor place the line within the clip and then trolley fore or aft as releasing scope of line. Once sufficient scope is out I set the anchor and tie off the anchor line to the cleat in front of the seat. Retrieving is the reverse taking in the scope wrapping around the yoyo reel till anchor is free and once along side the kayak I release the line from the carabiner clip and secure the anchor to the reel with a bungee and stow. I installed my trolley with the ring at the bottom. The anchor on a cuban yoyo hand reel ![]() The carabiner on the anchor trolley ![]() I hope this info is helpful Revo |

Revo, Thanks. You don't use a float ? If you get in trouble you just cut/release and buy a new anchor and line ? I like the cuban yo yo ! Gotta get one. thanks, Johnny |

Like macrosailfish, I too was mistified by the anchoring process and Revo's response, with photos, clarified how to do it perfectly. Thanks! |

marcosailfish, I have not had the need to discard my anchor fortunately. Though adding a float either by clipping one on once anchor is deployed or permanently attached the the yo yo is totally feasible. A small length of swim noodle or a high density foam float tied to the yo yo should suffice or a float tied to a snap ring to clip on line so if you heave it all overboard the float will support the line and yo yo. I can only say this if it were a life threatening decision the anchor line would get cut. I always carry a small 3-1/2" dive knife/line cutter attached to my PFD. After leaning over and causing the clip to slip off and watching a 30.00 dive knife sink to the bottom I got a new knife, cut off the belt clip and screwed the clip plate through the chest strap of my PFD never to come off again. Easy access for any entanglement or urgent need of a knife. I use a Tusa mini blunt tip with line cutter. http://www.diveprodivegear.com/m8/60103 ... knife.html Revo |
