Pro Angler best for fishing?

I bought a pro angler, Interested in buying one for my wife but it is too heavy and I am the one to put both in the trailer and in the water, please advise for second fishing kayak. |

it is a friggin no-brainer. the revo 11. many forums have discussed whther the best fishing Hobie is the revo 13 or the 11. Under 180lbs and the revo 11 is the ticket. No real opposition on any thread. |

G'day, I think the Outback is better suited to Fishing. It has more room and is more stable than the Revo's. It also allready had 4 inbuilt rod Holders, 2 Drink Holders and side trays as well as mesh Pocket for Storage. Cheers, Steve. |

There is no single best fishing kayak for everyone. The thing that I have noticed is that a lot of the bigger (taller and heavier) guys here in the NW have an Outback. Most of the shorter and lighter folks have Revos. I am not huge (6'3" 200lbs) but being tall there was a large stability difference between Outback and the Revo. For me I do not have to think about stability when fishing from the Outback. From the revo I had to divert some of my attention to concentrating on my balance and to the boat wakes around me. I think that if my center of gravity was lower it would not have mattered. Now, to be fair I am not an expert kayaker and my balance is not the best. For someone with better balance my issues may not be an issue. In the end, only a test ride will tell. |

I am very curious as how to the sport and revo 11 compare. I'm guessing the revo11 will be a lot faster than the the sport but how does the revo 11 fair in the stability department compared with the sport. |

The stability on the Revo 11 will be just fine. I took a Quest 11 a couple of weeks ago and it handled my 220lbs and fishing gear good. I was quite surprised on how well this little kayak performed from both a stability aspect as well as speed. |

I decided for the outback, my son is using it, not as heavy as pro angler but it even has rod holders in the front 2 and 2 in the back, we have not caught any fish yet but enjoyed the ride. Wife not yet in the kayak. |

Hi drbigfish - my wife has a sport she is not tall, around 5' 4" and weighs in at 130lbs - she has square tip fins on it and loves her kayak. I weigh in at 210 and am 5'11" and have an outback. Like pdxfisher I really rate the stability and comfort, not because I'm worried about tipping out but because I can forget about the balancing act just about completely and concentrate on fishing. But it is personal and the debate is endless - no matter the sport, outback and revo's are all great fishing yaks - you cant go wrong

I have a PA and 2 Revo 13s. I originally bought the first Revo for my wife for the same reason. She enjoyed it immensely. I ended up using it a couple of times to fish some extensive flats area with difficult launches and really liked it for certain situations. After a couple of times out my wife commented on the effects of oyster rash and other fishing side effects on her kayak. So now I own 2 Revos, which is kind of cool cuz now there are time I can take a non-kayaking pal out with me. Something to consider regarding the 11 vs. 15. Neither myself or any friends outside of my wife would be small enough for that yak with all of our gear/coolers. Good Luck. |

In terms of stability, the Sport may have more initial stability, but the Revo 11 has more secondary or ultimate stability. They're very different boats and I don't see them competing with each other. The Revo 11 is a much bigger boat than the Sport in many ways -- hull capacity, cockpit size/capacity, storage, speed, active weather handling -- and personality. Hands down, the Revo 11 is a more capable boat. On a continuum, it is much closer to the Revo 13 than the Sport, except for ease in handling, and portability. Each of the three has unique features, and as fishing platforms, each has its advantages.

We did have two Pro Angler's. I sold mine when the warranty was up and bought a Revo 13. The Revo 13 is my wife's boat she wanted this over the 11 because of a little extra room and storage. She's nowhere near 200lbs, more like 130 and 5'6". She is happy with the Revo 11 and has mentioned she's happy she went with the Revo 13 instead of the 11. |
