hi all, would like to know if anyone has ever installed a cam cleat on the side of a revo11, in line with (next to) the front end of the carrying handle. not sure if the place is strong enough for a cam cleat to be used mainly for anchor retrieval purpose. here in taiwan we often use a few stones contained in a net bag as anchor which could weigh up to 3 kg or more. this makes the retrieval of the anchor quite laborous and we need to clip the anchor line in the cam cleat after pulling up a couple of meters to free the hands to reel in the line and then repeat the process until the anchor is on board. appreciate any advice or comments. ty |

Ty Chen, I have a cam cleat installed on my revolution. I use it mainly for the main sheet of my sail but also have used it for my anchor occasionally. It works fine. I use a 3 pound (1.36 kilo) anchor. Check this previous post and you may find it useful. I use a cuban yo yo for a reel to hold my anchor line and it makes dropping and retrieval a very simple process. You may find you do not even need a cam cleat. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=40998 Revo |

hi Revo, Thanks a lot for the advice. When an anchor is over 3kg, the retrival becomes difficult and a cam cleat to temporarily hold the anchor line is helpful. Understand that one should install the cam cleat on the gunwale as the hull there is stronger. Since I always transport my kayak upside down anything on the gunwale will make the loading/unloading inconvenient, I have therefore decided to install the cam cleat as the pic shown. The hull here is a bit weaker but I think it should be ok for the cam cleat to hold an anchor of say 3-4 kg.
