Good fun ! But that may not be a herring. I can't see the mouth parts clear enough to be sure. Has the body shape of a shinner (minnow) in full spawning mode. Do you guys have a fish ladder on your lake? Fish and game has put some ladders on our lakes to allow Herring into the lake to help the forage base... But you really need to have a connection from the ocean to get herring next to mama bass

Yeah I have determined with the help of some others that is was a golden shiner. I kinda just took a wild guess had never caught one there before.

Remember where you caught that shinner...they tend to school around the same places in lakes and rivers. Two things...Bass know where shinners live and you can catch them with a "# 20 fly hook and a bit of red wiggler. So you would have a good chance of catching live shinners for bait. Plenty guys use a shinner that size on a bobber.....Have fun
