Post subject:  Fish Finder Mount
So I wanted to mount a fish finder to my outfitter but I didn't want to mess with the batteries. A little amazon search came up with a humminbird 120 fishin' buddy. Got it then I had to figure out how to mount it. This is what I came up with.

It's the only battery operated one I could find except the deeper but I didn't want to mess with my phone.

Consists of 2 screwball 1.5 inch mounts, bolt, washers and a 6in ram mount connector. Mounts and finder were about 215$


I will report back once get a chance to test it on the water. But you have to love the ram mounts.

So what do you do with ram mounts?

Nice installation....you might want to consider adding a "safety leash" to the finder for added security. The finder is directly over your paddle and if you suddenly needed the paddle, moving the FF might prove to be an issue.
If you find the Mirage drive operation produces "flutter" on the FF display, then locating it farther aft will solve the display problem.......on the water test is the only way to find out.
Humminbirds are really nice units and I am a fan of Ram mount too.

Tried it out this morning. Moved the paddle to the other side (I only keep one on the yak anyways). The finder worked great but only when I was moving very slow or stopped. the ram mount is not rigid enough when I am at a full pedal and the whole thing shutters. I am either going to make it more rigid or find a more traditional mount and put it in the yak.

Where I fish, trolling speed is some where between 1.3 and 2.2 mph......your Humminbird should work easily at 2 mph and provide stable results.
I wonder if your Mirage drive fins are interfering with the display???
One easy test is to speed up your kayak to over 2 mph and then stop pedaling while leaving the fins "close to the hull"....coast and see if the display is stable.
If the display becomes stable, then you know the transducer is too close to the fins.

Dispaly is fine the whole unit shakes. If i grab its fine but then i cant cast cause i am holding the finder and the rudder. I think its just the way i mounted it need to figure out a better more sturdy solution. It might be the plastic is not thick enough cause i can see it flex. I will brace it better and try again.
