I modified a Malone MicroSport trailer with the PVC tubes as is used quite often for a Pro Angler. I use the trailer to haul an Old Town Predator 13 and it worked wonderful. As soon as my dealer calls I'm off to demo both the new Revo 13 and the Outback. After a quick demo I'll rent the boat I think will be mine for a couple of hours to be sure. Rather tired of buying, being disappointment and reselling; just sold the Predator. So, here is the question: Has anyone successfully used the PVC tube routine in 3" or even 2" tubes under the scupper holes of the Revo or Outback? I've glanced under both boats, but did not measure either to see if the scuppers are the same or similar distance apart from bow to stern. Second part of the question; before I used the PVC tubes, I used a Malone Sea Wing to hold the Predator. I've also got a Dagger Axis 12.0 for rivers. That boat fits perfectly on the Sea Wing. Sure be nice to order a second Sea Wing and carry both the same way on the trailer. If not, no worries; one does what one must. By the way, I stored my P13 right on the PVC tubes all summer in between fishing trips. No warping, no damage, no problems even with the 90 plus degree weather here in the Willamette Valley (Oregon) this past summer. I'd like to be able to launch directly off the trailer. By doing so with the P13 it eliminated the need for a second person to help haul that 86 pound boat as well as the need for a cart; although I still have a couple of those. One last thing: True or not I'm told the Revo and Outback have a much thinner hull than the Predator 13. If that is a part of the problem, let me know. What say you? How do you carry on a trailer? |

Seriously; no one trailers the Revo 13 or the Outback? Everyone loads these on the top of their car or in the back of a pickup? |

I trailer mine. I have a trailer set up to haul my PA (PVC bunks) and I have a J rack on one side for my Revo. |

Thanks for the reply Redsinthehead. I'm looking at the Malone J-Rack is that what you use? I'll make a guess you fish in areas that get plenty warm in the summer. If that's so; do you often leave your Revo on the trailer for several days at a time? |

I have the Thule J racks. I sometimes do leave my yaks on the trailer but they are garage kept. I don't leave them in the heat / sun. |

I've had three of the Hobies, they ain't fragile. I just try and take care of them like I do my power boats. I have friends that bring them straight in from the river/salt, drop them on the ground, never rinse them or the mirage drives..., leave them in the sun.. abuse heck outta them and they still keep going. I spend a week in Florida once a year and leave them out on the dock the whole week in the blazing hot sun... no problems. Bang the mirage drive into shell rakes, bend the rods, tear the fins, little straightening with a hammer, little glue on the torn flipper... go again... I've owned 7-8 kayaks, SINKS, SOTS... you name it... love my Hobie(s)..... I even had a real old Outback split in the MD well, plastic welded it, sold it a couple of years later and as far as I know, still churning. |

We trailer our two Outback's with a neat aluminum trailer I picked up on Craigslist. Having shoulder issues and getting older, can't lift the kayak's very high and the trailer works perfectly! Tows real nice behind our little Kia Forte, so it's much more economical than sliding them in the back of the pick-up and driving to the bay. Don |

I use a trailer whenever possible and the roof rack only when the trailer would not be practical. If I used the bed of the truck I would not lock the tailgate (which becomes a $700 replacement with its rear camera if stolen which would take someone about 2 minutes to do) and I cannot lock anything else in the bed, like fishing rods and reels and other gear. |
