Where are you mounting this oversized transducer at? Does this transducer work well as a wet mounted shoot through? This HD ducer won't quite fit where I've had my smaller one installed. This is for a 798 ci hd si Thanks |

Check the installation guide for the fish finder. I believe that the transducer needs to be mounted either below the level of the keel or behind the stern for side-imaging to work. If you install the transducer inside the hull, the side imaging features may not work. If you have a Pro Angler, you can install the transducer behind the stern. If you have a Revolution or an Outback, the rudder will prevent you from mounting the transducer behind the stern, so you'll probably need to install the transducer on a boom. |

The manual does read something like that. I just wonder how sensitive the si really is. I do have a PA, I'm hoping to avoid mounting it at the back, I really like having it mounted in the hull, and I'd rather not invest another $60 in mounting hardware. Thanks |

felvic wrote: It works: Use Sikaflex 291 or 292 It's good to know that a side-imaging transducer can work when mounted inside the hull of a kayak. I don't want to deal with the hassle of raising and lowering a transducer boom, so I had thought that I wouldn't be able to use a side-imaging fish finder on my Revolution. Felvic, where did you install your transducer? It looks like you mounted it at the bow of your Outback, where the hull rises up on both sides of the transducer. I suspect that a side-imaging transducer wouldn't work as well if mounted on the inside of the center of a kayak, where the hull is relatively flat. Has anybody compared the performance of a side-imaging transducer when mounted on a boom or behind the stern of a Pro Angler, and when mounted inside the hull of the kayak, to see whether or to what extent the side-imaging performance is degraded by a through-the-hull mount? |

felvic wrote: The picture is on a PA12. It is on the bow. You put the transducer where it's flat, then you make it slide until it begin to go up. Then you put sikaflex. Don't forget to put Sika both sides. So you completely fill the hull beneath it with Sika then cover the top in Sika as well? Thanks for the help! |

Received my new outback. I"ll make a slide system to have the transducer in the cavity when using 2D, and outside when using sideimaging... |
