My JL Marine Power-Pole Micro Anchor was getting pretty bored sitting on the garage shelf, so I finally ordered the YakAttack Micro Mount for the new Outback. After a quick consultation with fellow HFT member Hanover_Yakker up in Virginia, I started the install. I'll skip over most of the instruction, as Chuck covers it quite well on his blog- http://froggin4bass.blogspot.com/2015/0 ... hobie.html I'll just comment about the two addition steps that I added; 1- I used a West Marine (modified) thru-deck fitting to run the power cable to the 12v9ah battery located in the rear hatch. With a quick shot of marine silicon, the fitting is water-tight. 2- I installed a RAM 1" ball to act as a rudder blade stop and the connection point for the rudder storage bungee. Hole drilled for Micro's power cord, tight tolerances require less silicon to seal. ![]() Thru-deck fitting which is covered by the mounting board. ![]() Hobie Battery Mount holding a 12v9ah unit. ![]() Bungee mount relocated from the starboard to port side. ![]() ![]() Ram ball keeps the oversized sailing blade from impacting the Micro and helps secure the bungee which in-turn secures the rudder for transport. Having the bungee on top of & under the blade keeps it from chaffing on mount while traveling. ![]() ![]() Ready to hit the waters of the Indian River (shown with quick-release cord installed). ![]() These may not be for everybody, but I love the ease of using the Micro........ |

Clean! I am installing one on my PA soon I am going to go with the Railblaza mount. Figured if I am going to spend 5k on a yak it's not that crazy to spend 600 on an anchor =) |
