Post subject:  H Rail Accessories
Has anyone tried to use the H Rail Rod holders on the round hand rail of a 2014 model PA 14. I just picked up a leftover 2014 for a steal of a deal and was wondering if I can use it to hold the rod butts since Hobie did away with the "stepped" molded rod butt holders on this model. Seems like the perfect answer if the H Rail Rod holder will clamp down even though the hand rail is round on the 2014!

The clamp works just fine on the older models.

I am currently using my H-raill accessories on a 2014 PA with the round bars. All I did was take a thin piece of rubber, the width of the clamp and the diameter of the bar, and clamped the accessory on the bar. I have the mounting plate with a 4" Geartrac screwed on it and then a Geartrac mountable Zooka tube rod holder. The clamps with the piece of rubber do not slip however I have noticed that there is a good amount of play with the bar holders them selves. That probably can be fixed.
