Where do you Adventure/Revo 16 fishermen prefer to mount your fish finders ? From looking through pics I've seen some guys put theirs up front at the mast location...and others on the rail where it's closer to reach. Closer seems nice, but in the way when you need to throw both legs over. Up front seems like you'd need a larger unit w a split screen view (so you could see sonar and chart way-points at the same time) and not really need to reach the unit very often. railblaza mount on the flat section near the mast mount to one side, Then extention pivot arm so it bends up and forward closer to reach and clears the pedals. You could use ram mounds but I happened to have the railblaza gear lying around. I have Berkley quickset rod holder mounted in the center on a homemade extension. Rod but is above center line of pedals. The berkley holder allow you to drop rod in rather than feed in end, so suit harder to reach forward locations. If you are going to mount finder forward then it needs to have a good colour screen to help visibility with sun glare. Also it can be awkward if you like to fiddle with settings a lot. Other option is Gunwale mount, possibly on Geartrak mount to side. Scotty flush mounted holders and rocket launchers just in from of mesh pockets. Berkleys will also fit in these mounts. Just have to be careful with rudder cables when installing mounts, (youtube installaton) |

I mounted my Elite5 on the gunwale just forward of the rudder pull cable on my Revo16 using a 1" Ram ball. Ram makes a compact mount that clips directly into the back of the Lowrance Elite series Combo GPS/Fishfinders that has a 1" ball. Then join the two balls with one of their double ended arms. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I decided to mount my Elite 5 using a Ram ball mounted in the mast hole up front. Seems like a really strong spot to mount to, and nicely out of the way. I think the unit is big enough to show the screens I need without having to make many adjustments on the water. I can lean it forward so it's close to my feet when pedaling, or stand it straight up to see it over the top of everything. Offset to one side or the other too. Seems versatile, and like it will work for me, although I must admit... I like my Lowrance much closer where I can play w it  I'll tinker less and prob catch more fish w this unit further away anyway !! Also hoping this new Lowrance ready plate will stay clearer of sand. You can always use an extender to raise it further above pedals and closer to you if you need to. |

I use the small cup holder. A Railblaza mount will fit perfectly into it. Use a Railblaza extension and rotating blaza platform. I like my screen right next to me in the chair for viewing and adjusting. Works great on my TI and Rev 11. |

I'm fishing in a very high traffic area, and even calm days can have swells (wakes) from any direction at any time. Sometimes so many sport fishers along w commercial guys all leaving the scene when the tide quits...it turns the place into a mess. Basically throw the legs over and ride out the storm. This type of scenario the main reason I wanted the f finder where it wouldn't interfere w an emergency "save my ass" legs over board move. Surf launches are the main reason I bought this yak, so I also feel like keeping the yak open for an easy re-entry is important. I'm fishing Montauk, NY ...so the odds that some drunk idiot is going to roll me is unfortunately pretty high. Thanks for the input on what works for you guys. Yes indeed Montauk is a busy place, but fantastic fishing. I envy you, but I'd be a nervous wreck between the boat traffic and rough water out there. Surf launches and landings out there must be a trip. Everything onboard must be tied down for sure. |

Have a couple of launch spots that are relatively calm. but still have to pick and choose the right days to shoot out there. I don't even bother to fish weekends it's such a zoo. The fishing seems to die on the weekends many times, so I don't feel like I miss much. I'm nervous about boat traffic for sure, and bought the papaya color just for that reason. Keep my flag up at all times and have an airhorn within easy reach too. Striped bass are moving away from the point right now, but the false albacore action is right around the corner. Can't wait !!
