TI in our nasty Pacific NW ocean (or AI?) PA14 freshwater both heavy beasts, trailer most likely. Probably more solo than tandem, but unsure about 4yo's future. Have a OK Trident 13 for shallows. Thoughts? Thank you. |

Hands down, TI for out front. Although I've never been on the AI2, I had an AI1, and the smoothness of the ride on the TI is far better. I also enjoy having the extra space for a big cooler on long adventures, quick and easy to access in the front seat. I would never consider a PA for out front. The TI is going to give you far more versatility, distance and safety. Plus the ability to take a passenger if the moment should arise. If your going to go heavy with a trailer, might as well go all the way. For fresh water, I'm a big fan of light and mobile. I like the Revo 11, had a Revo 13 at one time, but the Revo 11 is just the right weight to man handle and for storage hauling just the right size to fit flat on the back of a short bed truck or even in the back of my Honda Civic hatchback. I also use the Revo 11 for quick short distance trips out front often with difficult access. Can you tell I'm not a fan of the PA. LOL, it just doesn't fit my needs, whatsoever. In fact I don't know where it would for anyone? These two kayaks, I mention, fit my needs where I am located. Public access does not exist. So a boat is out of the question, let alone storage limitations. Otherwise I would go with a boat instead of trailering a kayak. |

I have both. I bought the PA for fishing and find it to be the closest you'll get to a mini-bass boat. It's really quite an amazing personal fishing craft. However, once I bought the TI, I started using it to fish from. Not at all bass-boat like, it remains superior to the PA in terms of speed, distance and versatility. If you can only have one, get the TI. It's fine for freshwater fishing as well. If your waters are smaller, get the AI, which actually has a larger tank well than the TI. Either way, the Islands just offer so much versatility that they make excellent fishing platforms. |

Thanks for the replies. Appreciate your insight Tom coming from someone who owns both. Our average water temp is 56F (excluding small lakes) so splash would be less fun in winter months; although I like the idea of being able to grab one of three floaties if a great white breaks it <yikes> |
