Post subject:  V2 Idler Pulley Replacement

Hi Evabody - longtime listener, first time caller. :D

I have a Mirage Drive repair issue I need help with. Any help is appreciated.

I have a Revo 13 and my drive is a V2 from 2010 model year, bought as a leftover in May 2011. The Idler Pulley has gone STB on me. The pulley groove is split and the part of the pulley where the s/s shaft goes thru the pulley is split too.

My question is this: how do I get the dang thing off of there so I can replace it with a new pulley? I used a 1/8" hex wrench to remove the set screw but that's as far as I got. What are my next steps? Do I use a punch to push the s/s shaft out, and if so, from which direction do I punch it?

Tap it on the outside with any suitable tool to loosen if its sticky. Then once loose you can push it from the inside.

Shouldn't need force once you have overcome any initial tendency to sticking. Just lack of lube that is holding it there once set screw is removed

If blue Loctite was used on the set screw, its possible some of the Loctite ran down around the shaft too. This would cause the shaft to stick.
As Wavewrider mentioned, tapping on the shaft will "knock it free".
