I've got my Watersnake 24lb thrust motor. Now looking for a battery/housing, etc. I expect to run it no more than 2-4 hrs. I'm trying to stay away from the 40lb batteries. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks |

Look at the "mart cart" or wheelchair type batteries. They'll get you down to about 25 or 26 pounds and will run your motor for at least 2 hours, often more. |

Probably more money than you want to spend, but you can't get lighter, smaller or longer amp-hrs out of anything else. Try Li-ion 12v. Weighs 4 pounds for 12 amp-hrs. https://www.nexgenbattery.com/product-p ... y-12v-12ah |

This one gets good reviews, and I can get a case, charger, and breaker for the price of that one. |

Nothing wrong with AGM batteries. They are good in a marine environment now that they are sealed and water/salt can't get into them (something we worried about on my submarine since they were wet cells). But they are heavier and have a bigger footprint (but also much less money-at first). You will have to replace the AGM batteries every few years since they will stop holding a useful capacity. You can expect about 500 charge/discharge cycles on average but that's a few years worth (anyone who drives a car or motorcycle knows that the batteries aren't permanent). Li-ion though is expected to last the lifetime of the Prius' as a contrast. Here's some reading on the differences if you are interested... http://www.powertechsystems.eu/home/tec ... -analysis/ |

Thanks for the info..as I only get out 20-25 times per season the AGM should last quite some time. |

Dunno about trolling motors, but ,i've been running my Hook7 on a agm battery from Battery Max. It weighs about 10 lbs and is around 13 amp hours. It' a scooter or waverunner battery and for $35 I put up with the slihhtly higher weight. I stay outon the water for 8-10 hours, never had an issue yet. |

I'm using two NF-22 55ah gel deep cycles that fit in the front hatch of my PA-14. I can fit a 3rd if I take out the tackle tray. I'm usually on the water for 8 hours + and it's not good to discharge them too low. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Since I posted I upgraded to two 50 ah LiFe’s from Amped Outdoors, one for the motor and one for electronics as well as backup for the motor. I’ve never had to use the back up, the 50ah easily lasts me all day going from spot to spot. One of the 50ah’s is easily equal to the two 35ah gels. Plus I saved about 30 lbs. |
