Hobie Vantage seat tearing

I have a 2015 Outback and a 2015 Revolution. Both seat backs are starting to tear.

I know I can get replacement kits but has anyone ever tried to repair this?

Can I get just the back instead of the complete seat.

Where can I find take apart instructions?

I sent an email direct to Hobie on disassembly instructions and they sent a video right away. I've watched several trampoline repairs on you tube and I think I'm going to try flex seal tape to repair the tear in the seat back. If that fails I will order new backs so that's my back up.

Although I feel like I’m just talking to myself I thought I would let the board know what I did to repair my torn seats. I did contact Hobie and they sent a link to the disassembly on you tube. It’s weird, a search on you tube didn’t turn up anything.

I tried two different super repair tapes, Gorilla glue repair tape, not duct tape. This was $10 for 10 ft and there were you tube videos of trampoline repairs so I thought it might work but it didn’t. It stuck well enough at first but shifted slightly so my shoulder kept sticking to the back.

I tried a vinyl repair tape made for tents and it wouldn’t stick at all.

What worked was to take it to a seat repair shop and get it resewn. It has held so far but I suspect the other side will soon start to tear.

The hardest part of it all was removing and reinstalling the backs. Hobie can come up with some of the most repair unfriendly engineering of any company I have ever seen.

As i suspected, the backs started seperating again almost right away. I did what I should have done from the very beginning, ordered two new backs from Half Hitch tackle in Destin. When I think of the time I spent on chasing repairs and the fuel I used, I should have never wasted my time on repairing the backs.
