I had a really long week at work so started out slow and easy this morning. Water temps are already up to the high 50s. Hit the water about 8:30 and by 9:00 had a Small Mouth Bass, Large Mouth Bass, and a Pickerel. What was really neat was that that first toothy critter was about the largest I have ever in 6 years gotten out of Eastman at about 20"-21". The wind was really blowing but I was able to find protected areas along the shore and fished until about 11:00.

It was fun figuring out ways I could use the Revolution's rudder or drive fins to control drift or hold position under various conditions. Still figuring out the rigging but not rushing anything.

Todays count 7 Pickerel, 3 SMB, 1 LMB. Roger

Guess I should make a trip up there and join you sometime... I am sure that someone in my family is responsible for naming that lake....

Eastmans have been in New England since the days of the Pilgrims...

You would fit right in up here. Many businesses, physical features, and families all sharing that same name. I don't recall ever running into the name in all the years I lived in SoCal so it is very interesting living somewhere that the name is so very common.

Where did you live in So Cal?

I have a second cousin who lived in Santa Barbara, and chnged his name in the 90's to "Trout Fishing in America" Eastman...

What do you expect from the son of a Lawyer, when told by his High School that he could not have that name on his Diploma. (He had just read the book by Richard Brautigan of the same name nd as moved by it.)

Sorry it took so long to reply.

Grew up primarily in San Bernardino County. Went to High School in Alta Loma in the days of Volunteer fire departments and waving to all other vehicle because you must know them. Spent some periods living in San Diego area and still other time working and living on the Long Range boats.

Moved eastward as the crowds moved east I couldn't handle it. Finally ended up in Yucaipa with a commute to Azusa every day. Besides fishing I was involved in Mountain Search and Rescue and other Mountain related volunteer groups but the commute and a company fighting battles to stay in business was taking its toll.

Finally we decided if we were going to move, lets get out of the rat race and that is what we have done. We live in the woods in an area surrounded by lakes. Living towards the end of a mile long dirt road with only with only half a dozen residences can present its challenges but it also has some very positive sides.

For the most part the ground stays covered with snow and the lakes frozen from the end of November till mid to late April but that gives plenty of time to catch up on indoor projects that were neglected when the water wasn't frozen and fishing was the priority. Also the cozy comfort of a wood stove is nice and relaxing when it is time for that. :lol: Some excellent Small Mouth Bass fishing around here.

Made it down not quite as far as you last fall and fished the TKAA Tournament in Norfolk...had an absolute blast and caught the first red fish I have ever gotten. A few nice ones. Stay in touch. My email is NHExplorer @ comcast.net

Funny...

I grew up mostly in San Diego County, but finished High School in Sacramento and San Franciso Bay areas.

Joined the Army in 1981 and never returned, except to visit family. Ended up in South Carolina...

I had a friend get out of the Army in the mid-90's to fish the Tuna Tournaments. I often wonder how he did... Hmmm..

If you come down this way, let me know... The Redfish here are awesome, and we have a private Honey Hole that has HUGE, butvery finicky Reds...
