Hi, I noticed several prominent "bumps" on the inside of the hull (directly beneath the 8" round hatch in front of the seat) and was wondering if that was normal. I'm thinking that it's probably a cosmetic defect from the manufacturing process and it doesn't seem to be negatively impacting the kayak but just curious as to what the "bumps" are. Any one have any ideas? thanks, |

I think those bumps your refering to are the extrusions that the hardware securing your hatch attachs to, they are in other such area's to. |

If this is just plastic material... there is a vent in the mold in that location that sometimes drops wads of material during molding that could create a lump inside. |

Thanks for the response(s) which confirmed my suspicions - that the bumps were probably caused by some "event" along the manufacturing process and not an allergic reaction to my use of the interior space as a fish holding compartment!! Of course it's tough to squeeze a large stripe that measures more than 8 inches around into that round hatch - guess that's why Hobie provided for the nice large oblong hatch in the front?! |

I plan to put movable storage containers through the center hatch and would prefer not having the "bump" in the way. Is there any harm done by carefully sanding it down? Mindful, of course, of not getting the hull hot or making it thinner than the hull thickness. Thanks |

You can shave the bump down... careful not to create a crack. Maybe polish out after sanding. |
