I'm about to buy a Mirage Pro angler 12 and wanted to know what accessories coming or should I buy parts as necessary.

kardinal_84....great video and those halibut are really tough fighting fish!

pesca_pavon....Suggest starting with all the safety equipment.....PFD (life jacket), safety flag with light.....I like the Visicarbon pro, anchor + 200' of line, safety whistle, first aid kit, sun screen, good broad rimmed hat, polarized sun glasses, hand bilge pump, bailing bucket used to pee in or bail if needed, 30-40 foot tow line, basic hand tools to repair mirage drive if needed, safety knife attached to you PFD so you can quickly use it for cutting an anchor line or whatever, water, energy bars...like Cliff Bars, dry clothing, dry suit for cold weather/water or open ocean, portable marine radio if fishing in open ocean or on a busy river, fish finder with GPS feature, I like the Hobie fish finder installation kit III that has the 12 volt battery + charger, wiring kit and battery holder.....then anchor trolley if you plan to fish on anchor, rod holders...that is a good start!

Congrats Kardinal - some epic fish there! Visiting Alaska and catching a Halibut from a kayak is on my bucket list. Did you see the Atlantic Halibut that weighed in at 515 lbs? Thanks for sharing your adventure.

I was looking at the Wikipedia entry for halibut and it mentioned they fight like the dickens when they're pulled up into the air - to the point many commercial fishing charters SHOOT them to avoid injury to people on deck.

So how the heck do you deal with that on a kayak?!

Watch the video about 2:40 in. You'll see the halibut get its brains knocked out by a neon yellow rubber baton.

Doh! Just realized I read right past a video link, was just looking at the pictures.

Wow, crazy... That's quite a fight!
