Hello fellow Hobie kayak sailors! It has been a few years, hope everyone is doing ok with the pandemic. I am happy to report that I have had a fantastic sailing experience, sailing back from Angel Island back to Berkeley, with direct tail winds. I went the simple route with a boom batton, fiberglass electricians rod, inserted into the stock Hobie sail. 2006 adventure is my ride. It was the best least stressful trip to date. Previous attempts were more complicated. with a full external boom and vang attempts. Stable ride surfing on some waves without being to tipsy and cpasizing like on previous trips. Conditions were about ideal, nice strong breeze without it being too much.

Next step is figuring out what to do when conditions are too windy. Dont think I can furl. Need to find a way to just wrap the sail shut with a cord which is hard to do when the waves are big.
