Soooo - went out on the weekend only to be smashed by a 20+kt offshore wind - with big gusts

Been sailing for a while and got a bit cocky - was running a starboard ama on my revo 13 and on a port tack - had too much sail out and when reachine over my left shoulder for a trolling rod a gust of wing flipped me - in a heartbeat - with the sail cleated - recovered it easily but when i got back upright the mast has been badly bent.

Can you bend a mast back or is that it - its buggered?

Any tips for bending it back to shape?

All tips and advice welcome.

Tia

Certainly worth a try. Easier if bowed... not possible if kinked.

How to? You can kink if you point load, so bow up... and somehow push down along the bend. Maybe a couple of wood blocks at either end just inboard of the tips.

Almeister,

A kayak buddy of mine and sailing buddy on this forum jcanracer had a capsize resulting in a bent mast. Watch the video just after 8 mins and you will see the incident.
He was able to bend it back straight. Reinforcing the mast with a wood dowel after is recommended since the mast tube now has an inheirant weak spot.
A kink as Matt states is probably not repairable.
