Post subject:  Pvc furling tube.

Hi all ,

I'm new to the site and am enjoying reading the posts.
I haven't searched for this topic so apologies if it's already been discussed.
I've bought a 2016 outback with the sail kit .
The local dealer didn't have any furling kits so I've made up a pvc tube type and it works very well.
I have noticed that when it winds on the sail the bottom of the sail winds quite tightly and folds the clear window quite hard on itself and has caused a slight crease in the sail. Has anyone seen this to become a problem over time with cracking or maybe a weak spot for tearing?

Thanks.

Initially I had the knot that's tied into the sail approaching from the anti clockwise position with the sail winding up clockwise. Now I've changed the knot to approach from the clockwise position ,still winding the sail clockwise. This uses the little piece of sail below the eye to be used as a bit of a lever spreading the force of rotation a bit.
Seems a bit better?
