Post subject:  Alternative way to fit AMAs to an older Revolution 13
I am looking to upgrade soon so didn't want to drill my current 2007 Revolution 13 full of holes, also the normal location would either block the rudder lift lever, or the holes to mount the wheels. I have used it in light to moderate winds and all went well.

The photos should show it all but points to note :
- I needed to drastically cutdown fishing rod holder as the angle of the holders in the kayak do not allow the top to be flush with the mounting board.
- Due to board blocking the bottom hole, you can only use two of the three adjustment holes.
(apologies, I can't get the images to show in the post but they do open in a seperate TAB)

I have had the kayak out in 20-30km/hr winds getting upto 8.5 km/hr and it went great.

Based on your posted video, I would say the Revo sailed really well in 30kp/hr winds. The AMAs worked as well as expected in the location you selected. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".....

It appears you have the sailing rudder installed, so under the circumstances, seems to me, you have a good setup.

Considering the Revo is not promoted solely as a sailing kayak, it does very well both pedaling and sailing :wink:

Yes I was surprised how much speed I got in the heavier winds. Even in light winds it made peddling a lot less effort for a given speed.
I typically do 10km trips, with the sail giving a good boost even in light winds, I am now planning 20km trips.
My main concern is the wind getting up but the mostly furled sail still worked well. It is not uncommon to get double the wind forcast here so I tend to be a light wind kayaker, not the best in what is known as "The Windy City" :!:

I wish I could see how you mounted the cross bar, the pictures and video arent showing up. Im thinking of adding the same to my 08 Revo13.

The only thing I would do differently would be to mount the bar in the middle of the board so I could put a strap on either side of the bar which would balance out the load.

I have since bought a 2017 Rev 13 and have mounted the bar at the front, put pulleys, cleats, a longer mainsheet and a wind vain on.
I put a lot of thought into how to do it so another video coming up come summer in NZ.
