So the piece of strap the provides the tension for the sail started to rip the other day while on the lake. Has anyone ever fixed something similar? I am considering sewing more strap to try and strengthen what is still there, or even just using something like duct tape to hold it together. It's an older sail for a 2008 AI I bought used recently. Just wondering if its worth trying to fix or if I need to buy a new sail altogether. Any suggestions? You can see pictures here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JsTzutj2VEGE3YFo6 |

I don't think I'd be too worried about it yet, but I would do 2 things. 1/ Tidy up the frayed stuff with some heat. I would just use a lighter and wave it quickly past the frayed bits to tidy them up. Being careful not to ruin any other part of the webbing. 2/ Make sure the strap is always properly seated on the top before securing the sail. |

Thank you! I think I am missing a mast cap. It must have broken and caused the sail to fail as well. I just ordered a new one and will clean up the strap as you recommended. |
