Could someone please explain the steps to posting a photo directly into the forum? Thanks |

You can't. You have to host the image someplace else, then post the link using the IMG meta tags... Unless you're name is Matt Miller. Brian C |

On some Hobie forums like this link: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=6909 I see photos appearing throughout the text but no links. I guess this is due to IMG meta tags, which I know nothing about. Is there a place that describes the step by step process of doing it? I can't find it in FAQ. wingit |

It's kind of tough to spell out because typing the actual tags makes them invisible.... But if I add quotes, you can see them. Just don't type the quotes when you try to imbed an image. For example "" typed in without the quotes would result in this: ![]() Optionally, I could have just put a link to the image by typing the following ""http://www.thedoghouse.net/BFG.jpg"" without the quotes to get this: http://www.thedoghouse.net/BFG.jpg You don't actually have to type in the IMG meta tags. You can click those buttons along the top of the post reply screen (just below the subject line field). The first hit of the button results in the starting tag, with the 2nd hit creating the ending tag. Depending on the browser, those tags usually appear at the very end of what you've typed so far, even if you've moved the cursor up the screen. The tags in phpBB are something that allow people to use html type coding without actually having to know how to code html. And it's a pretty standard format. And you need to remember that some free picture hosting sites will not let you hot link to the root image or imbed images on other websites. They're advertising driven and want to make sure they get the click-throughs. Have fun. Brian C |

Hey Dog, Wow--great pic! Just what I have been looking for to encourage those pesky stinkpotters and jet skis to keep their distance! Think I could rig up a bow mount for something like that?? ![]() |

Ahhh... an age old problem those jet skis and power boats. An effective system was developed many years ago for use on a Hobie 16: ![]() http://www.west.net/~lpm/hobie/archives ... umor.shtml |

Yeah, both our solutions are a bit on the "overkill" range of things. But the difference is that I can actually implement my solution, though it's not really very pleasant at either end of that beast. ![]() Brian C |

Yea Dog--looks like a .50 cal.-I've forgotten the make. The recoil on that baby could probably do a bit of damage to my Mirage Drive (or me!). |

It's a Serbu BFG... And yes, BFG stands for what you think it stands for. That's about $3k worth of stuff I'm holding on to. It punches large holes in small objects from long distances. It's kind of a hoot, but hard on the body. My wife jokes that shooting a .50bmg is like being in a car wreck.... She's probably right. But she's also a damn fine shot. I'm not going to admit how good. Brian C |

Found an old post I did about images: Posting images on this forum requires that the image be on a web server somewhere. I have an image directory on one of our servers that I then link to in a post. If the image is up somewhere... Right click and get the properties which will include the correct URL. Use the image button "". |

wingit, Back to your original question about how to post pics. As noted above, there are several different ways to do this, but probably the most efficient way is to register with a third party photo-hosting service (free). You get set up with them (many out there) with a password and username, and then follow their instructions on how to load your pics onto their Web site. Hi Apalach, Thanks for the detailed instructions on the posting of photos and the other tips too. I used Photobucket. That's a beautiful Lighthouse picture. I started a new topic to show how I rigged my Revo for sailing. http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=33226#33226 |
