Hmmmm, can't seem to tighten this up due to corrosion as shown below. I think my only option is cutting it out and replacing.
Any thoughts....anyone.....anyone.....

Hello Scott: In 2010, I replaced my dolphin striker post (40140001) because of the same thing and had to hacksaw out the old one. Was not too bad to do. - Dwight |

It looks like you could install additional washers under the nuts. Use a 300-series stainless to minimize galvanic corrosion. |

Unless I'm missing something, I think you should be able to just loosen the nuts at the ends of the striker rod (remove the outoard crossbar end caps) and then pop the rod off the post. Then remove the ball and the top nut and drop the striker post down out of the front crossbar. Then use a dremel tool with a cut off wheel to cut the compression sleeve lengthwise and split it off the post. Then clean up the post, replace the compression sleeve (use tefgel) and re-install everything. sm |
