| Post subject: | We Be Jammin' Hobie 20 Title (Ocean Deck sail 789) |
I recently purchased a 1998 Hobie 20 in St. Augustine, FL and the former owner was not provided a title when he purchased it. I'm trying to track down the previous owners and the only information I have is the Hull Number, a white jib that says "We Be Jammin'" and a green, orange, white and yellow mainsail that has "OCEAN DECK" (sail number 789) on it. I know it raced in the Hobie 20 2009 National Championship in Tampa but the State of Florida has no information on it. I was wondering if anyone knew how to look up old race information, specifically who was registered under sail number 789 for the championship in Tampa. I found a youtube clip of the boat which I'll attach below. My boat is shown at time 0:20. I'm trying to make the ownership of this cat legal so I welcome any advice and suggestion. While the video was uploaded in 2009, the Hobie 20 Continentals were at Davis Island Yacht Club (I've been there many times and recognize the venue) in 2001. At that event, boat #789 was registered to Vernon Kuftic and crew Pete Haley. I don't have any contact information for Vernon, but Pete Haley is still around and may be able to help.
