Post subject:  Marine Tex and Hobies
In a post from 2011, "Trouble with EPO Rudders', Mark Van Doran (MVD) said that filling mis-drilled holes in rudders is one of the few uses for Marine Tex on a Hobie.

Our new-to-us 2000 H20 has several small dents and dings that we want to fill. What should I use? I have no experience working with fiberglass.

We also have this damage forward of the front crossbar from when the previous owner didn't secure the loose end of the strap that was wrapped around the hull, for trailering, and the strap end went under the trailer wheel.

We suspect we'll need some professional repair on the big job, but we'd like to do the small jobs ourselves.

A perspective of size would help. Include a coin or tape measure in your photos.

From the photos these look small and would be a judgement call as to weather to fiberglass and gelcoat or to gelcoat only. I would not use Marine Tex on these locations. Gelcoat is easier to sand and finish than Marine Tex. Check out youtube for information about gelcoat repairing its an easy skill to learn. I mostly us a paint brush when I'm doing gelcoat repairs.
