Post subject: | Replacement Tiger Main Halyard |
Need to replace my main halyard and am looking for recommendations. I bought the boat used and I think it currently has 1/8" Spyderline but I'm open to any and all suggestions, including good 'ole Sta-set. Would 3/16" stretch too much? Thanks, Mark |

Wow...75 people have read this posting but no one has responded. I'll try again....is 3/16" sta-set sufficient for a new mainsail halyard on my Tiger or will it stretch too much? If not, what do you recommend? Thanks, Mark |

The type of line you use almost doesn't matter - when the sail is fully hoisted it locks with a pin - there is zero load on the halyard while sailing - so get whatever you can find that's the same diameter (I don't like it too small due to it having a tendency to pop out of the track while sailing in strong winds due to the smallish bolt ropes used on Euro sails) - but getting the lightest weight skinny line you can that doesn't pop out would ultimately be best just from a weight savings standpoint. |
