Hello:
How many different snuffer options are currently available for the tiger?

1 End pole snuffer?
2 6-foot tube snuffer (6lbs vs 2lbs)?
3 Short tube/bag snuffer?

Steve Leo is using a mid pole snuffer made in Canada and is of very high quality. It appears to perform a bit better than the trumpet allowing for easier snuffing and launching.

The "funnel" transitions to a mylar bag so the spin stays dry like the trumpet, but it a bit more durable and lighter I believe.

We are in the process of ordering a five snuffer order from the Canadadian manufacturer to get a good price. They are not cheap, but really appear to be one of the best systems around.

Is the snuffer made from carbon fiber? Most of the one's I have seen are.
I have been making one out of fiberglass that is very simliar and have some time invested but the cost is about 35.00.

The mid-pole snuffer that Karl was referring to is made of Fiberglass so it is class legal and weighs around 3 pounds. The bag can be either mylar or nylon based on your preference.

Just got the snuffer from Hobie Europe for a Hobie 16. It is a modified trumpet. Has the mouth of the trumpet, about a foot long, and bag attached. Works great and is two pounds lighter than the trumpet.
I have a trumpet snuffer on an FX One. This winter I plan to cut it off and attach a bag to reduce the weight and allow for more bend in the pole. With the trumpet you can only put in a slight bend. I have already repaired the front end of the snuffer by bending the pole too much moving the boat. The only thing I did not like about the pole was that it was in three pieces and had to be spliced together, adding weight.

I am sailing a F-18 with a mid pole snuffer and I started off hating it. The latest trick that I have tried seems to be working well. Using the system in the "stock" way, the first ring on the spinnaker was not entering the tube, thus the entire spinnaker was bunching up outside of the tube. Only pulling on the snuffer line with everything I had would snuff it all the way. I have since sent a second light snuffer line up the tube and tied a bowline loosely around the main snuffer line above the first ring.
When dousing the spinnaker, I first blow the tack line, then the halyard, then pull on both the snuffer lines until it stops then only pull on the main snuffer line. This seems complicated, but it is very easy. The only down side to this is the added weight of the second line in light air. I am using a 5mm line to minimize the weight.
If anyone has any other solutions, please let me know

the stock system works good for us - I take off the tied-on rings from the spi though and run the halyard through the grometts (like zig zagging them through the sail) We have the continous tack halyard - never had an issue.

For Sale, used stock Hobie spinnaker trumpet. $150.00. It's painted all black and in good shape. It is 7' 3" long and 21" in diameter. I bought a Murrays spin hoop and sock and no longer need this one. Call me at 985-758-1504. See pic on "thebeachcats.com" ad.

I have a stock Tiger endpole snuffer.

Each time I snuff it seems like it is damaging the sail. Indeed there is some damage (a circular rub mark about 3" in diameter). Is there any modification that would ease the entry of the sail to the hole?
