I've been racing my Tiger for 2 seasons now and have a few more years experience soloing my H16. I'm very comfortable with the boat and at 250lbs I think I can properly manage my Tiger in light winds solo. My biggest question is what would be the best way to lock the main sail hook top in by myself? Does anyone have any tips? Any other tips for F18 solo sailing?

Thanks in advance.

Hoist the main standing or sitting on the trampoline
when the sail is up rotate with one hand the mastrotaion and lower the sail

leave it to me to over complicate thinking about. I suppose I can just push the mast rotation over with my foot. Mine is lowered to the bottom of the mast. Thanks for helping me overcome my absentmindedness.

I'm sure you've already done this, but lubricating the mast track and bolt rope helps A LOT to get the main raised with less resistance. I've used both silicone spray and McLube, each have worked well. When I left my Tiger mast up and sailed it weekly I typically applied the lube every couple months. When following this routine I found my Tiger's main was by far easier to raise than any of my previous Hobie cats (mostly 18s).

Good luck! I've never done it but I'm sure the Tiger is a blast to solo..
