Hello, I'm new in this forum, I' from sunny Sicily so excuse my imperfect english. I have been reading many articles here so I learnt many tricks in handling the Tiger i bought just one year ago (it's my engineering degree gift). Now I' setting my boat with a self tacking sistem and I would like to know if there is a way to set a close circuit with only one sheet to sheet the jib and control the slot between the two sails (like the main system). Thank for sharing your experience and your time. |

I never change the adjustment of the slot of my Tiger (using the traveller). I tied it to were I thought the optimal position was for the traveller and sail with it there all the time. The sheet will adjust the slot of the jib to mast as well as mast rotation. Later, Dan |

I do not know the exact distance. What I do know is that it straddles the post that secures the track to the front crossbar. Not the outside one but the one just in. There are four, so the middle ones. Dan |

Though being a Captain, You shouldn't joke an Admiral, because he could hurt and close the forum!
Does anybody know how to repair the top cover between two beams that is no longer hard? It flects under the weight of a man who sits on and I think to put a layer of fiberglass on his internal side to harden the whole part. Is it a good idea? Hi, Mattvin |

Wow Lord Dan! Never thought of it. Sounds kind of cool though. Is the top cover are you talking about the deck inspection plate? If you are talking about that do not try any repairs it costs about $12 to replace. I just bought two, one was stolen (or somehow needed) from my boat. I decided to have one extra...in case. You will spend more time than it is worth to try to fix one. Later, Dan |

Sorry (for me) but the flecting top cover I'm talking about is the long one between beams. It's fixed to the hull, not screwed like inspection ports, and it 's shown in the Illustrated part guide at page 2 with 18090075 code number (decks). Bye, Mattvin |

I looked at the illustrated parts diagram you referenced. I'm not sure what you are trying to describe. There should only be an inspection cover just behind each crossbar. In the picture they show the slot for the daggerboard, but there should not be any cover on that! |

That is just FRP in a mold. I would think that if you could pry it off you could just add some reenforcement to the back to stiffen it. If you would like to make sure you have a competitive boat, weight-wise, you may need to take some precaution to how much material you want to add. |

I had one of the front ones lifting up from the hull and had to glue it back down. I think that I could have put a plastic wedge in the gap and tapped my way around the perimeter to get the whole thing off. It may take some to start it and it may be a bit messy but I think it will come with a wedge the rest of the way. Later, Dan |

I have removed that piece on a Fox. It is not as easy as you would think and will most likely damage it. If you are going to do it make sure there is a replacement available in Europe. The white material that is used around it to seal is not easy to source either. I ended up using a white 3M product to seal the cap. IMO its not worth removing it to reinforce. |

I just can't ask for more, I will be honoured to be helped by you to tune my cat and have some trips in Giardini Naxos bay (Sicily), the place I live in. That will be the period when I set up the boat that waits disassembled in a garage and will begin the second sailing season with her (I'm just a deck hand).
