Post subject:  Lee Helm on starboard tac.

Hi Guys,
I have a 2007 Tiger and have an issue with Lee helm on starboard tac and weather helm on port tac.
I have checked the shrouds are the same length. I have moved the mast more upright. Compared settings to another tiger. Could different tensions in the diamond wires be a possible cause?
Any insights would be helpful thanks.

Moving the mast more upright is going to increase lee helm, not reduce it.

Raking the tip of the rudder blade farther aft will also reduce lee helm (if lee helm is on starboard tack, then rake back the port rudder). I would probably start by swapping the rudder blades to the opposite sides of the boat and see if the helm issue switches sides. Note that if doing this, you would need to unbolt the upper rudder castings and keep them on their current sides, since the upper rudder castings are handed.

Thanks for the reply Srm. I have left the mast as is for now. Went for a sail with my buddy on his Tiger and noticed his sail was much flatter at the top of the mast than mine was. I cranked the downhaul on my Tiger when I went out the next time and that has taken the Lee helm away. Boat stays straight now, slightly more weather helm on the other tac but at least I have eliminated Lee Helm.
I will try moving the mast back one hole on the forestay and see what that does. We are in winter now so don’t have much wind now.
Thanks again for the advice.
