Post subject:  Daggerboard "bites"
Almost every two weeks or so I have to do some gelcoat repair on the trailing edges of the daggerboards (little "bites"), so I figure something is wrong with the slots of the boards. There is a little piece of carpet-like material on the left and right side (the trailing edge is practically a "V"), but not in the very middle (at the tip of the "V"). Is this correct? This is a 2006 boat. Any tip for for reducing my time spent in the garage working on the boards :?

The most common cause of chips in the boards is by leaving the boards in the well while the boat is on the beach. Since the boards don't sit in the well perfectly when not in past half way they are always "leaning" back in the well resting on the trailing edge where the board comes in contact with the back of the well.

Easy answer is to always take the boards out when the boat is on the beach or when you're landing to the beach.

Hopefully that will solve most of your chips! We always take the boards out when not sailing and we have never had any chips on our boards.

We don't use the cat on a beach, so this should not be the problem.

By the way Greg, I bought the boat you used at the 2006 Worlds (Tiger 2136) :wink:
