is there a conversion for the old 8:1 main sheet system or do i need to buy a whole new system? |

Wow, that looks a mess. How do you reave that without friction between the wraps? |

Harken sell a 5 sheave top block that makes it a lot easier to get 10:1. Unfortunately you need to go to a Nacra dealer as they are custom made for Nacra. Works well |

joclo Ifoung the 5 sheeve system at murrays marine, and my local hobie cat dealer is trying to find me one now through his suppliers. Go jeremy surf city catamarans can find anything and usually has the best prices. (and if i don't buy from him his kid might go to a college without a sailing team) jk but thanks all for the input i'll put picks up when i get the system from jeremy |

Yep to all that. I built this system over 4 years ago and it's still going strong. Now, Harken has a 5 sheave upper which simplifies things a little. I think the 5 sheave pulls a little funky myself, but that's what people are going with these days with minimal problems. I just built a tapered mainsheet for the above system, and it got great reviews. I suck at tapering, but this once it came out pretty well. I used 6mm FSE Robline 8 plait dingy through the blocks and 8mm FSE Dyneema racing sheet in the hand. I won't show you a pic, you'd just laugh at how funky it looks. The materials are top notch, and functionally it works great, the execution is where is suffered. Quote: And real men aren't afraid to run with purple sheets

They are slightly back ordered from Harken, should be a few days. They list for $175

That double hanging on the triple's plastic becket will break. Mine did...it took about three years but Harken said that was a no-no and would not warranty it.. I am using the Quint on the top now with the triple and a double on the bottom, attached to a metal becket.

Erf, anything past 8:1 starts getting really complicated. A center-sheeting 5:1 along the boom with a 2:1 cascade from sail to traveller starts looking less and less messy... |

More stuff to get caught on when ducking underneath it. Plus does it give you enough adjustment range? |

I don't think those booms could support it anyway, at least not the round style. |

In that case, the 10:1 is in the usual spot and just the end of the sheet goes along the boom, so it's only 1/10th of the load axially on the boom, instead of 1/2 like my example.
