Hello all We had two races in Clear Lake Iowa today. Winds were mostly light and shifty. The weather was cold and rainy but the sun came out towards the end of the day. Mark Modderman and Gladice Romero had an awsome 1-3 day. Results should be up shortly at http://hobiecatdivision7.org/Hobie16NAC2008/results.htm |

They've got nothing for wind today, I doubt they even get called off the beach, although some forecasts are calling for wind above 5 knots after 4pm. Talked to Jim Sohn, currently in 4th place ![]() Tommorrow typical plains states winds pipe up to the upper teens, gusting mid 20's, out of the SE/SSE which doesn't give much depth for a proper course on Clear Lake. Gusting wind plus direction will make the weather mark the most difficult part of the course, only giving PU about 1.8 nm shore to shore to set a course (they may get off six or seven races). Thursday, much the same wind speed, with rain again, but more towards the SW. Wind from this direction makes for some nice lanes right down the lake. Tuesday 2:15 update currently South winds at 8 mph, check for results later!!! |

There's lots and lots and lots of pictures at the Event Website. There's also a small blog/message board that I've been writing when some time is available. Also, the web cam is being repositioned to see the sailing....so you need to visit the Event Website to get more updates if interested. Website: http://www.hobiecatdivision7.org/Hobie16NAC2008/ Please feel free to email me personally if anyone wants more information than we have been providing. I'm trying to access at lease once or twice a day. Email: [email protected] Thanks and Enjoy! ![]() |

Post subject: | Day 2 No wind |
No racing today. No wind. We were postponed onshore until about 2:00 when the AP was lowered. It didn't look promising and sure enough we were headed back to shore about two hours later. Tomorrows forecast looks better. |

Figured the cam was rotating and I had bad timing, but yesterday it was facing North and after repeated tries today it's facing East ![]() BTW, kudos for a fantastic event, we had a great time last weekend! |

7 races today in about 15 knots with higher gusts. Shifty and puffy. Francisco Figueroa and Julliam Berrios (aka team Heineken) move into first. |

That webcam feed is a very cool progression. Kudos to Div. 7 and event organizers for putting it together. As a first attempt, it is still a little rough. Doesn't show as much as we like. But I think it paves the way to show what can be done. Nice. I don't know the techno side of it, but if cameras could be mounted at RC, weather mark, and gate, that would be awesome!! |

Todd was pretty smart to include that on the website package, it is pretty cool. The camera is mounted on the Yacht Club facing the lake. |

Five more extra windy races today about 20 knots with big shifty puffs. Lots of flipping and plenty of people heading in early from exhaustion. Results are on the website. |

I want to take this space up to thank Todd Wilson for all the hard work and sacrifice he made to get this event done. At the end of the day, we had pretty decent weather, lots of races; some heavy some light; tons of food, booze and fellowship; our community received an economic impact in the $500,000 range (according to EDC estimates) and all of sudden, Hobie Sailing IS in the forefront of the locals mind (when thinking about sailing. yacht club etc.....) SO, I would personally like to thank Todd for what he has done. Respectfully Chris Wessels |
