Some interesting data... Its funny to see what the Olympic classes do to the OD trends since many people jump in during the second half of the quadrenium (most people take a break right after the Games and then ramp up) |

We had 1009 members when SailingWorld/ USSA asked us to report the numbers. There are only a handfull more at the end of the year. Of those members the classes break down in the following way. Hobie 14: 9.4% Hobie 16: 58.5% Hobie 17: 14.2% Hobie 18: 18.1% Hobie 20: 14.5% Tiger: 11.4% The total is a bit over 100% but that's because many people sail in more than one class. |

The Sailing Company, publishers of Cruising World and Sailing World magazines, released the results of the 2006 North American Sailing Industry Study at an industry research presentation and breakfast during the Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail. ...... Sailboat Production Results Mixed By Size Ranges ....Another one of the bright spots in 2006 was multihulls, which were up 11% to 2884 units, comprising a record 19% of the year's overall sailboat production. New models seemed to drive the gains here which came primarily from entry level multihulls up to 19'. http://www.sailingworld.com/racing/raci ... 50604.html |
