I was wondering if anyone knew about any racing that happens near Rochester NY?, on Lake Ontario or the Finger Lakes. This is my first year owning a Hobie so im looking to start racing ASAP. Any websites or info would be helpful.

Call The Boat Store in Syracuse.
Check with the Hobie fleets, try Pat Bisesi, who is also on this Forum.
Try Bill Lewis, also on this forum.
Lots of racing, especially in your area, plus Kingston, Toronto, etc.

Happy Sailing

Rochester Fleet 295's Regatta is this weekend(Aug 3,4,5).
Bring your boat and register. No better way to learn the ropes.
Let someone know you're new and you will get lots of help.
They hold the event at Hamlin Beach state park.
It is a great site and very fun event.

Info from their commodore.

In case you want to know how much food to pack for our regatta here is the line-up for the weekend.

Friday - Pizza around 8:00
Saturday and Sunday breakfast - Bagels, donuts, coffee, juice
Saturday Dinner - Chicken BBQ, pasta, salads, baked beans, etc. ($10 per person)
Saturday Party - Tiger bar, tropical drinks, DJ Lucas from Brazil
Sunday Lunch - Small Sub, chips, cookie

Is there a schedule of when the races are on Saturday and Sunday? I checked out the Fleet 295 website but cant find any info on the upcoming regatta beside the dates.

I also wanted to know if there are any rules about not having insurance on your boat?
