Post subject:  Midwinters East Volunteers!

There was no way this event could have happened w/o all the great volunteers that help me out! I want to personally thank all of you, I hope we can work together nxt year again!

We were very luck to have Michael McNeir a local Hobie 20 sailor volunteer to make the trophies for MWE this year. He donated all of his time and materials which helped us keep the cost down. We stole the idea from an old trophies he had, we replaced the mirror in the back with sail cloth, we cut up old H16 Mains and Jib to put the finishing touches on, there were not any 2 trophies alike!

Once again thanks Mike for all of the hard work yall did in this event!

Mike wife Denise also handled on sight registration and provided breakfast for everyone each morning!

Larry Stephens, my father, donated the committee boat and the mark set boat. Larry also help run the races, he was told he'd just need to drive the boat and then drink beer, well about 30 seconds after the 1st boat finished we put him to work! Thanks DAD

Our pin set boat was provided by Tim Beacham. Tim was a fast learner and by the 2nd race looked like he'd set 100 start lines. Tim is a local H16 sailor who gave up racing to help run everything.

Kurt Swart, local H18 sailor also opted out of racing and provided the grunt work on the pin boat. I am sure his back is killing him today, he pulled anchors all day both days. Kurt's wife Sue helped us on the committee boat on Sunday man a 5th person was great!

Steve Miller, local infusion sailor and his son Evan Miller sailed the event, was also on the pin boat and provided a helping hand and expertise on setting the line and gates.

Janie Vaughan did all the time and sail number recording, there was no way anyone else on the boat could have done the job, it was her 1st time ever working race committee, by the 2nd race she was a pro. he husband Jerome is fleet 278 commodore, he also sailed the event.

Our PRO for the event was Tom Garner. Tom ran a 1st class event and I heard nothing but good comments about the quality of races. Tom brought along a pin set crew he was use to working with. It was scary they could read each others mind we'd call up to ask them to do something and they would have already done it! A HUGE thanks to Erin and Ashley who drove over with Tom from Fort Walton![/list]
