Help!!! I am 5'2", 130 lb female. A former well experienced sailer (laser, fireball, y-flyer and Hobie-16) who decided to get back into sailing after purchasing a cottage a few years ago. I had no problem getting back into a monohull back in the day, but my skip & I never capsized our Hobie in our races.... so I don't have any experience of getting back on. I find the Bravo very difficult to get back on. I am 53 years old and don't have the strength that I once had. Is there a trick to get back on? or maybe some sort of rope ladder that I could hook up? Help Ro "O) |

Hi Ro If you google 'waterbug self rescue ladder' you might find a link to the maker and they may be able to help, they also have book face (or whatever it's called) links and are located in the US. I have one of the ladders for my outback which can be picked up on fleebay as I live in Australia and helps me a great deal. I hope this helps Regards Zarbs |

I assume you’ve pulled yourself back onboard on the Bravo’s side. Seems to be standard procedure. What I do instead is go to the front, put one leg over one of the bows, and pull myself onboard holding on to the tripod. Then move around the tripod, and back into the cockpit. Not pretty, but it works for me, and I can do it very quickly. I also detach the mainsheet before righting the Bravo, which is always a good practice. This may work for you. |
