Whether intended or not, the Hobie Bravo auto-cleats the mainsheet. This is a result of the block angle and sheet path. Our city marina has bought one, and may buy more Bravors, to replace their aging Sunfish fleet but the one and only complaint from those who have sailed their new Bravo is that the mainsheet cannot be kept uncleated. I thought that perhaps I could flip the cleat upside down but due to the interior design this isn't possible. Has anyone found way to keep the sheet out of the cleat while sailing? |

you should be able to adjust the angle of the cleat, no need to flip it. I did that on my T2 this summer, no problem. I just checked the Bravo manual. Page 18 has instructions. https://static.hobiecat.com/digital_ass ... manual.pdf |

Thanks, but all the way up is still way too low. The T2 is at a completely different angle to start with. |

Once the sail is unfurled and hsa load on it... the angle should be more upright? |

Not enough to keep the sheet from being cleated all the time. The only way to uncleat is to snap down to the deck and hold the sheet there. Come up just a few inches and it's cleated again. I've sailed it and have to admit it's very frustrating. |

Sounds odd... not the way it should be. And you made the full range of adjustment already as described in the catalog? Jaws should nearly point up. |

Bought my Bravo new a year ago and only discovered that the cleat was set to about the center when I launched for the first time...and "almost" got blown down when I couldn't "whip" it out of the jam cleat. That is probably the default position when the boats are shipped? However, I was able to re-adjust all the way up. This works if you keep the tension on the sheet low to the hulls. If you raise your arm to the height of your face, it will lock. That seems to be a good compromise. |
