Post subject:  Hobie Bravo--Distance between the hulls

I've been researching small single handed sailboats to replace a Snark Sea Devil that I own. The Snark is a board boat with a jib sail in addition to the main sail. It is 12 feet long, and weighs only 50 pounds. It has been a joy to cartop and launch at a beach, but it is a bit too small.

I have a small cargo trailer that I rig to transport to the water, and any boat would have to fit on this. Weight is also a concern as I will have to slide it on and off the trailer by myself. I have lifted the sterns of a couple of fiberglass boats, Laser and Catalina 12, and they are manageable. They are about 130 pounds, but the Hobie is 195 pounds and I am not sure if I can handle it.

Does anyone know the distance between the two hulls on the Bravo? Could the Bravo be supported by a couple of padded rails on the middle section, with the hulls hanging free for transport?

not sure about your first question, but mine sat on a flat 4x8 trailer without hanging over the side. It is really easy to lift on or off the trailer, doesn't feel anything close to 195 pounds. I just lift the front, drag forward a few inches until it rests on the trailer, walk around to the back, lift the back and push forward on the trailer, super easy to move it around.
